The Department of Paediatrics,  A. J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre,Mangaluru is actively involved in undergraduate as well as post graduate training through its proficient faculty and department facilities. The department is represented by 12 Faculty members 4 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors 3 Senior residents and 24 Junior Residents. Undergraduate teaching consists of didactic lectures, bed side clinics, out - patient and immunization exposure. Practical demonstration and seminars as directed by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences are also conducted. Post graduate training was started in May 2009 with a current intake of 8 Post Graduates per year (MD). We have a 100 bedded Paediatric ward with both Pediatric and neonatal intensive care units where the postgraduates are able to train under intensivists with state of the art facilities. Post graduate teaching also includes regular seminars, journal clubs and case presentations. PICU is 8 bedded equipped with ventilators,invasive and non-invasive monitors, high flow oxygen. NICU is 10 bedded along with 6 bedded HDU (Level 1, 2 and 3). We are a recognized centre for Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive care fellowship programmes by RGUHS. We regular conduct Intensive care workshop/pediatric conferences/CMEs. We have also been conducting MITE PG program from past 10 years which is a training program for exam going post graduates.
