The department focuses on services to decrease the burden of preventable disease in underserved communities by addressing the root cause or by detecting a disease in its early stages. The department was established in the year 2002, with the objective of providing high quality community based training by participatory approach and to train the medical students with effective health education so as to bring about changes in the health-related behaviors of people which in turn will help in promoting health and preventing diseases.
With full-fledged Urban and Rural health centers at Kavoor and Panemangalore, the Department provides good learning opportunity for students at Community settings.
